Center for Wooden Boats’ founder, true north, founding director, and former SLU Community Council board member Dick Wagner passed away at home with his family on Thursday, April 20th. His was a life well lived.
With a track record of public benefit and creative vision, the Columbia and Yale trained architect positioned The Center for Wooden Boats as a leader in the maritime heritage community – and in Seattle. Dick profoundly influenced the evolution of Lake Union Park and the urban neighborhood at South Lake Union.
One of a kind, Dick was a man of uncommon perseverance. He believed profoundly in the power of people helping us imagine the unimaginable and inspiring us to whole-heartedly join the effort to create something brand new yet remember the past.
The South Lake Union community is grateful for Dick’s passion and thoughtful contributions to our neighborhood. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered.
